My name is Alexander Hayden. I was born in Texas. Growing up, my family rarely stayed put for more than long. We went from Dallas, to Waverly, Texas, to San Francisco, to Nashville, then Houston, then Austin. I got used to always seeing new places, making new friends. I got used to feeling itchy whenever we sat still too long.

When I moved out at 18, I lived in Kentucky for a year, then Austin again, then New York City for several years.

In 2018, I sold all my possessions and started traveling full time. I chose “slow travel”, generally staying at least a month (usually more) in each city. Since then, I’ve lived in Chicago, Seattle, San Juan, Puerto Rico, Mexico City, Playa Del Carmen, Tulum, Barcelona, Madrid, Lisbon, London, Paris (for a long time), Marseille, Montpellier, Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka. Up next on my list is Tangier & Chefchaouen in Morocco, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, perhaps Argentina.

I am incapable of sitting still. I’ve given up trying. And trust me, I’ve tried many times to settle down.

Most recently, I got approved for year-long work visa in France. This was not an easy or cheap process to get that visa. I planned to really do it, get an apartment in Paris, start a local business, buy things, make a little home… I made it 2 months. Then I sold all my stuff and started traveling again.

So that’s why I started this website. Might as well start writing about it all.

I make my living as an artist and a writer already. I sell paintings, photos, and I tattoo my poetry into people’s skin.

Freedom has always been my goal in life. I have a lot of it. Now, I’m interested in sharing how I’ve gotten it.

This is not just about travel. Travel is only one form of freedom. This is about minimalism, financial freedom, freedom from our bad habits and our attachments, and embracing impermanence.
